Stations of the Cross
Every Friday during Lent - 6 pm

O God, bless us during this season of spiritual renewal. Fill our minds and hearts with love, that we may be a sign of Jesus to all those living in our midst.

Those who follow the cross willingly now, will not fear the last judgement. When the; Lord comes to judge, the Sign of the Cross will be in the heavens; then will those servants of the cross, who in their lifetime made themselves one with the Crucified, draw near with great trust to Christ, the judge.

Why are you afraid, then, to take up the cross when through it you can win an eternal kingdom? In the cross is salvation; in it is life; in it is protection from your enemies; in it is heavenly sweetness; in it is strength of mind; in it is joy of spirit; in it is the highest virtue; in the cross is perfect holiness.

Take up your cross and follow Jesus, and you will merit eternal life.

Haitian Relief Efforts: What You Can Do

"We are working with the Haitian people now and will be for years to come," says CRS President Ken Hackett. "Our fundraising for Haiti has passed the $90-million mark. We are grateful for such generosity, and our donors should know that we will spend all of this money, and much more, helping the people of this devastated country."

CRS is now providing food for more than half a million people a month and sorting through local regulations to begin the rebuilding homes and other buildings. The agency has also started a resource page for young people that has education material on Haiti and other issues around the world.

The devastation caused by the 7.0 earthquake in Haiti is almost incomprehensible. The human suffering in one of the world's poorest countries has mobilized nations from around the globe. Relief is beginning to arrive, but three days after the quake both Port-au-Prince's airport and seaport are not fully operational because of the extensive damage they sustained.

As with most disasters of this type and magnitude, funds for emergency water, food, and rescue are urgently needed. Catholic Relief Services, the international humanitarian arm of the US Bishops, is coordinating the response for the Bishops. Visit www.crs.org for up-to-date developments on relief for the Haitian people and further developments on the unfolding disaster.

Prayer for our Nation's Health Care Reform

Lord Jesus, you are the Divine Physician, and the source of all life and health.
Guide our nation at this critical moment, as our government seeks health care reforms.
Give our elected officials the humility to know that they are servants, not masters.
Give them the wisdom to realize that every life has equal value.
Give them the strength to resist the idea that some lives can be sacrificed to save others or that killing the unborn is a part of health care.
Give your people the courage to speak up and to hold public officials accountable for their actions.
Save us, Lord Jesus, from a culture of death, and let every reform in our public policy be based on the reform of our hearts and minds in the light of your Gospel, for you are Lord forever and ever. Amen.

New Spanish Language Marriage Website Debuts

The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) has launched www.PorTuMatrimonio.org, a new web site for couples. The site, completely in Spanish, is the Hispanic version of the popular www.ForYourMarriage.org, although it is not a translation of it, said Alejandro Aguilera-Titus director for Hispanic Affairs of the Secretariat of Cultural Diversity in the Church and coordinator of the project. The initiative responds to the bishops' current priorities on marriage and cultural diversity with special emphasis on Hispanics.

"PorTuMatrimonio.org is a space to inspire, help and urge Spanish-speaking couples to live more fully their marriage relationship," Aguilera-Titus said. "The idea is to help them be happy couples, committed to their vocation."

Advice, stories, testimonials and other resources to liven up the daily life of couples are found on the site along with valuable information about common challenges for couples and how to overcome them in healthy and respectful ways.
